Hanson's Windows for $7900 please Alex

I don't even know where to start about our recent meeting with Hanson's.  We had to re-schedule with them at least twice but on Tuesday we finally sat down with someone to have them give us an estimate.  They showed us this whole little heat lamp example and then when we went through the numbers we could believe the numbers they were pulling out.  At first he said with 30% off our total cost for all the windows and our door-wall it would be around $7900.  After we said there was no way we were doing that he said IF we book with them on the spot they would give us $800 off.  OK, that's nice, but no.  THEN he says, let me call my boss and see what I can do.  IF we sign with them TONIGHT they would do it for $5999.  OK, if you know me, you know I am not going to be pushed into doing ANYTHING when it comes to me paying $6000 for it so I just told him we had had one other bid previously that was $5004 and we thought that was the highest we would see.  So having him originally throw $7900 floored us and there was no way we were prepared to make a decision  tonight.  So, that was the end of our meeting.

Ben and I did fall in love with the windows, they were awesome.  BUT our heating bills aren't even that high to start with.  It would take up YEARS to just make up the cost of the windows through our heating bill (which is what all the window companies are trying to use as leverage right now) and it just wouldn't make any sense for us unless we really are planning on living in this house until the day we die which I think isn't that likely.  So, after looking at everything I think we are thinking we are going to hold off on this until around May and then we may just do one window at a time.

when the crazy sales person left I told ben that "the guy was nothing but a used car salesmen". then, quickly realized that that is what ben does I spouted out, "I mean he is a window salesmen", with a snear.

A word to the wise... be very careful with Hanson's. They are a little shady; you were quite right about the "used car salesman" mentality. And if you have a problem, you'll get put on hold indefinitely, get a lot of excuses, then hung up on. Just be careful, 'nuff said.

I delt w/ Hasons Yesturday recommended from my friend and asked for a specific sales person they had used as well. He is up and up on pricing that his commission is based off the total sale. He is familiar with the blogs let alone the product and service of the contractors. The contractors are not working directly for Hansons but are hired by them to perform the work. I suggest calling when you are ready and ask for Bob Campbell is his name. Very dependable and personal

I also received the same sales pitch from Hansons. I did put in an order with them. When they had me sign for my windows on the day of installation I saw the work order they received from Republic Windows. Republic Windows makes the windows for them and they paid $67 for each window. Now you do the math and you see its a lot of room to haggle. It didn't matter what size the windows were they were all $67. F.Y.I.

I hate to tell you but you could have gotten those windows from Hanson's @ $4443.00 out the door maybe even another 5% off. They know use Alside windows. Former GM of Hansons windows.
