I am sure most of you have already talked to Mark and Cindy about how neat of a day Sunday was.
But, for the sake of telling the story correctly I am going to start from the beginning.
On Friday Ben's Dad went in for a check up with this heart doctor. When they read the little machine that is in his chest they found out he has been having lots of episodes of his heart starting to beat incorrectly and the machine had to correct it. This was a huge shock.
To make a long story short plans were made with some of the "elders" of the church to meet with Mark and his family and friends and to anoint him with oil and pray over him.
Why? Because in James 5 it says:
Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up...
So, anyway, on Sunday Mark and Cindy stayed home because Mark isn't supposed to work. Ben and I went to church and Pastor Josh was speaking that morning. At the end of the service he said one last thing. He said that Mark had had some tests done and the results weren't that great. He said he would really like for who ever wanted to to walk over to Mark's house, surround the house in a big circle and we would all hold hands and pray for Mark and ask God to heal him and protect him.
So of course Ben and I are tearing up, but we couldn't believe how many other people were tearing up too. We went out to the parking lot and it was like the whole church was on their way over to the house. When Ben and I got to the house it was already completely surrounded and when you stepped in to join the circle it was so big you were no where near the house. It looked so neat to look around and see so many people who really cared.
It is so neat to see such a wide range of people who felt so close to the same person. It takes a really special person to relate to the oldest person that goes to the church to some of the youngest. I love watching the kids that run up to Pastor Mark and give him a hug, because he hugs them every time he sees them.
It was so awesome to see so many people want to do the same thing, lift someone else up to God and ask HIM for help.
So, anyway, Mom & Dad Wentzel, we are so excited to see God heal you. You can almost visibly see the tight grasp God has on Mark. There is nothing to worry about when you know God is that close.
