Kobe has learned a new trick. First I will tell you why he had to learn the new trick.
Before Christmas vacation Kobe's teacher, Mrs. Baker, told all of us parents that for Christmas she would like all the kids to be zipping their own coats and tying their own shoes. Well, Kobe can zip his own coat, when he feels like it, and I always buy him shoes that he doesn't have to tie so he doesn't have to worry about it. Well, today Mrs. Baker foiled my plan. You know what she came up with!?! She is having the kids (2 a day) take turns tying her shoe and IF it stays tied for 1/2 an hour they get a prize out of some toy chest. Ugg...So Kobe gets in the car, tells me this and says his turn is Friday. FRIDAY!!! How are you supposed to teach a kid to tie their shoe in such a short amount of time? Well, apparently it can be done because I showed Kobe when we got home, we practiced, then when we got home from church I had Ben work on it with him and...Tah-Dah! He can do it. He actually tied the knot shown above, all by himself, while Ben and I were in a different room. He is doing pretty good, so I will end up making him do it about 50 times tomorrow to ensure he doesn't get stage fright when it is his turn to tie Mrs. Baker's shoe (is that even legal? :))
